Claire was admitted as a solicitor in 1995 and worked for 10 years at TV Edwards in London before relocating to Sussex in 2005, and subsequently joining Goodman Ray as a consultant in October 2019 and specialises in representing children and parents in public law proceedings including care, adoption and special guardianship and has developed her skills over many years of experience. She has undertaken complex cases involving non-accidental injury, sexual abuse, forced marriage, abduction, and frequently represents teenagers where a conflict of interest has arisen with the CG. She receives regular referrals from Guardians, from local solicitors, from the bar and from the local authority. She is known for her sympathetic approach to children and families coupled with an efficient and tenacious case management style.
As an experienced and confident advocate, Claire regularly undertakes her own advocacy wherever possible. She enjoys strong relationships with the local bar allowing her to ensure that if Counsel is instructed, they have the correct experience and expertise for each particular case.
An Accredited Specialist in Children Law since 2002, Claire is a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children. She has previously been a board member for Glad (Gay and Lesbian Legal Advice) and Rise (formerly the Women’s Refuge Project). She is currently a Member of the Organising Committee of the Quality Circle in Sussex.
