We are very sad to report the death of Joanna Bosanquet on Saturday 16 July 2022. Joanna joined the firm in the late 1990’s having qualified in a Central London practice. From the outset she demonstrated an extraordinary and dedicated commitment to her clients and to resolving their difficulties. Joanna became a partner after only a few years with us and remained as a partner for many years; she worked until her retirement approximately 5 years ago, although she remained undertaking consultant work for us until very recently when her health meant she could no longer work.
Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, she had previously worked as a Housing Officer in the London Borough of Camden but felt her skills would be better used in the legal sphere. She was undoubtedly right – she had an intelligent and careful approach to problem solving over a wide range of issues. Her heart and legal skills were best evident in the child protection work she did – usually acting for children who had suffered abuse or neglect in very troubled families. She was an empathetic lawyer and always strove hard to achieve what was in the best interests of the children with whom she was involved. She selflessly gave her time and skill to those in most need in the communities in which we work.
Professional colleagues such as social workers, Children’s Guardians and barristers and Judges always appreciated the hard work and skill she brought to her work and she was very popular within the legal world during her work in it. She also contributed over and beyond her casework and the contributions she made to the successful running of the practice; she set up and ran a rota of volunteer solicitors at the Principal Registry, now the Central Family Court , to ensure as far as possible that unrepresented parties (usually parents in distress and under pressure in such an unfamiliar setting) could get help at Court.
We will miss her terribly and send our condolences to her family
