Amina’s main interest is in children matters and she advises in both public and private law case. She has experience in a broad range of cases across family law including matrimonial disputes, domestic abuse, adoption, surrogacy and repatriation cases. Amina qualified in August 2023 in the Adoption, Surrogacy and International Child Care team.
Amina started work at Goodman Ray as a paralegal and over the course of the last 4 years she has worked under the supervision of Catriona Allan, Emma Sherrington, Ann Thompson, Thomas Brownrigg, Trudi Featherstone and Jemma Dally. Amina has assisted on complex cases including NAI, representing a child directly in international abduction with complex interplay of multiple jurisdictions; the welfare of the child and consent in trans cases; and acting for remaining families in proceedings involving the repatriation of British children from Syria. Amina enjoys advocacy and is increasingly able to represent her clients in court.
Law is Amina’s second career. Amina used to be a management consultant, first at Ernst & Young and then at Cap Gemini. She has set up and run her own consultancy for a number of years. In building her legal career Amina has volunteered at FRU particularly before the Employment Tribunal.
Amina was called to the Bar of England and Wales (Lincoln’s Inn, 2024).
Education
Amina studied Literature and History at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She converted to Law from BPP and completed her LLM from SOAS University of London with Distinction.
Amina is fluent in Urdu and Hindi and functional in Punjabi. She has a working knowledge of French.
