Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings

Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings (MIAMs) will become compulsory in April 2014.

Currently Practice direction 3A of the Family Procedure Rules requires anyone wishing to make an application in family proceedings (Children and Finance following relationship breakdown) to attend a MIAMs. However this is not currently compulsory. When the Children and Families Bill becomes law, as is anticipated shortly, attendance at MIAMs will become a statutory requirement and will be compulsory. A number of our mediators undertake MIAMs. Please contact Amina Somers at aminasomers@goodmanray.com for details.”
